Photo Hunt....Rare
This week's theme was very difficult for me. I had an extremely hard time thinking of something rare that I either had a picture of or could take a picture of. Then I thought about my son. I know this may seem a very odd take on the word Rare, but it's the only thing that came to my mind, and it stayed there. Not rare as in unusual, but more undone - as in a steak that's not completely cooked.
So...this is a picture of my sweet baby boy (who turns 13 in 32 days!!) when he was born. I was only 24 weeks pregnant when he was born. So, he wasn't "fully cooked" - he was "rare"! Instead of spending those last months "baking" in my womb, he had to do so in an incubator. So there's my very odd take on RARE!

veeery odd take on rare is right! i'm sure your soon-to-be-teenager is happy to have baby pictures like that floating around too. :-P
ReplyDeletea 24 weeker now 13 year old is very rare indeed. I'm glad you had a successful outcome.
ReplyDeleteI was stumped too but came up with a lame one.

Yes, Jennifer - very rare. I'm so thrilled he is going to be 13! Amazing. My niece was born at 25 1/2 weeks - she is now 4 1/2. I too thought of her when I saw what the theme was.
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday. And Happy Birthday to your special son!
That is amazing! I am sure you now wonder how he could ever have been so small!
ReplyDeleteWow! He definitely was rare - as in not quite "done" enough. What a miracle. I'm so happy that he's turning 13.
ReplyDeleteLove your take on the "rare" theme this week.
I like that -- rare as in undercooked. :) So glad everything turned out well for him and he's healthy and strong!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - 13 soon - all those loving years. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad he did well and now has this milestone to look forward to. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAwwww, poor baby. Thank goodness for happy endings!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteHope you can participate in the BLogging Scavenger Hunt Starting Monday! Would love to see you there!
What a wonderful photo and a great post. Congratulations, I'm so happy he was able to finish "baking out of the oven", haha.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is invited to my blog to see my "rare" post. Hope to see you there.
unusual take on the word rare that is true but oddly enough it truly reflects the theme rare :) nice visiting yr blog. see your blog again the next photo hunt :)
ReplyDeleteOh Jennifer...this brought tears to my eyes (okay, they're actually rolling right down my cheeks)! I'm so happy for your family on your miraculously rare son! 24 weeks...wow. It was hard enough going through my youngest's week+ in the NICU...I honestly cannot begin to imagine all you went through!
ReplyDeleteUsually it's 28 weeks but yours was 24. And he's a teenager now. Everything went great! :) And I like that "fully cooked", "baking in my womb" analogy. :D
ReplyDelete24 weeks?! Oh my God.. But I am glad he's healthy and good :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful take on the theme! He looks so tiny laying there it's hard to believe that little baby will be 13. Happy Birthday to him :) And a welcome to the teen years for you.
ReplyDeleteHe is a very amazing baby! HAppy Birthday to your baby!
ReplyDeleteThis may be the most original interpretation of the "rare" Photo Hunt theme I've seen (at least thus far)! :b
ReplyDeleteHow precious!
ReplyDeleteMine's up too :)
That is the most precious post for this theme! How delicate and special. Congrats on his 13th!
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I'd call it "odd". It is very fitting for the topic.
ReplyDeleteUnique, yes. Precious, for sure...
