Back in the Saddle

In the bike saddle that is! And it feels good!

Chip had to go out for a while this morning. On his way home, he called me and asked what I thought about going for a bike ride. I was's cold! And I haven't been on my bike in 3 months! I won't be able to keep up! I might not survive! Then I thought, what better time to get back on track?

I stepped outside to see how cold it was. It was cold. Too cold to take Ruthi. So we left CJ in charge of her and went on a bike date.

I warned Chip that he was probably going to be disappointed in me, because I would probably not do very well. I thought I'd be whining inside the whole way.

But you know what? I surprised myself!

When we reached the point we planned to turn around, I was feeling pretty good, so he asked if I wanted to keep going. So we kept on. I got a little tired on the way back, and pedaling got tough a couple of times, but all in all, I felt good. We only did about 10 miles, but that's not bad since it's been so long for me! And I'm so glad we went!

We got back, and I got myself ready and went to the store to buy a few more clothing items for the cold weather. I had borrowed CJ's biking coat, and it was great, so I got one for me, along with some pants and a couple of shirts. I don't want to look like a dork wearing the wrong clothes out there - gotta look good! LOL!. But I didn't want to get too much, because I really hope those clothes are going to be too big for me next winter!

I did have to take some ibuprofen this evening - I could feel my muscles aching. And I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow, but I think I'll be ready to ride again in a couple of days!

So...I took my camera along today to get my photo for today. But my camera wouldn't work! I think it was a combination of the batteries being low, it being so cold and maybe the jostling around it probably got being in the pouch on my bike. (It's working fine now!) Thankfully, Chip had his phone and we used it. The pictures aren't as crisp, but that's ok. He took both of these.

Jan. 19

I really wish my eyes were open more in this one. I have the hardest time not looking like I'm squinting in pictures!

Today was a good day. We even had some snow flurries tonight. I don't call that real snow. It doesn't count unless it sticks, and I'd be happy if we could have a LEAST a foot! I won't hold my breath, but I'm sure hoping this is our year for REAL snow!

Looking forward to another good day tomorrow. Goodnight!

For Fun

I was just trying to catch up on some blog reading, and I discovered this at Carrie's blog. It's a little photo contest, and looked fun. So I thought I'd submit a photo. There are two categories - adult and kids. I'm entering this one in the kids category. Just for fun.

365 Catch Up

I guess I'm back to my "normal" blogging, which means I'm absent for a few days (at least) at a time! So goes life!

Thought I'd get my 365 photos updated, and since I don't really have much else to blog about, I'll get right back to it.

Jan. 14:
This is a typical sight at night in our house. Ruthi has never been big on sleeping in her bed. And honestly, it doesn't bother me too much. This is usually where she crashes. She sleeps better and wakes up less than if I put her in her bed. So for now, it works. I know it won't be forever!

Jan. 15:
Now, I won't necessarily have a photo EVERY day. Sometimes, I'll record a glimpse of the day in another way. On this day, I actually did try to take a picture - of my TV. But I couldn't get one to come out well. So I tried to get a pic online, and still haven't found one I'm happy with. I was trying to get a pic. of President Bush giving his farewell speech. So I'm working on one for it. And I don't have my journaling for it yet either, so I won't be posting that here...but that's what goes in today's spot.

Jan. 16:
Now, for those who know me, you will know it's way out of my comfort zone to be posting a picture of myself in which I'm wearing no makeup, and I look like I just crawled out of bed! But I'm being real here, and this is the pic for the day. Ruthi asked me to come in her room and play. So we decided to play baby dolls. As I was playing with her, I realized that I haven't really done this with her before. Granted, she usually would rather play in the living room. She brings all her toys in there to play. She has only recently really wanted to play in her room for more than 5 minutes. Anyway, Chip came in and saw us playing together. And he asks, "Have you ever done this before?" And I had to laugh. He walked out of the room and came back with the camera. And voila, the photo for Jan. 16!

Jan. 17:
Another typical sight in our house. The table is covered with scrapbooking supplies. I'm scrapbooking and watching a show on my computer. Bliss!

Jan. 18:

After church today, we had lunch at our favorite Mexican place. Yum! I snapped these pictures, and actually meant to take one more, but I forgot. I discovered that I can print a 4x6 picture with more than one image on it. So my plan is to add a 4th photo of the outside of the restaurant in with this group of pictures. I can get it next time we're there, so no biggie.

So...exciting, huh? That sums up the past few days in our lives! And that's all for now.

That would sum up the past couple of days. Nothing special going on, and honestly not feeling like doing too much either.

I DID, however, CONQUER MT. WASHMORE!!!! For a few hours, at least!
It drives me nuts that no matter how on top of the laundry I am, I turn around and there's more to do! I'm not saying that I stay on top of it, necessarily, just that it doesn't seem to matter much!

I LOVE seeing my laundry bags completely makes me very happy. Especially knowing the washer and dryer are empty as well! And that's where I was earlier today. It made me so happy, I made that my photo for today. Of course, the bags are no longer empty. Granted, there's not nearly enough for a load yet (there will be tomorrow!), but the nice emptiness is no more. It was nice while it lasted, even if it was very brief!

And I tackled ironing tonight. I really dislike ironing. And that's being very nice about it. Next to cleaning toilets, it is my least favorite thing to do. But I ironed all of hubby's uniforms and several of his shirts. At least now he can pull them out of the closet and wear them, and I don't have to stop what I'm doing to iron one shirt. Nor does he have to walk out of the house with wrinkles. That makes him happy, which in turn DOES make me happy. So I have to see the silver lining when it comes to ironing.

Really...laundry being the highlight of my day, makes for a very UN interesting day!

My 365 kit STILL hasn't come...sigh. But I know it will be here soon. As for pictures...I'm trying to get a little creative on days when there's not much to take a picture of. Turns out, I'm not all that creative when taking pictures! But this project is about the every day things. So I'll be filling in spots with lots of every day stuff.

Like yesterday's picture (and today's for that matter).

Jan. 12
I enjoy my coffee in the mornings. But I need some extra flavor. And I LOVE flavored creamers! As soon as the holiday creamers come out, I rush to get my eggnog flavor. And I try a few others as well. This holiday season, I tried just about every flavor that came out. And I enjoyed them. But my new favorite is White Chocolate Raspberry. OH YUM! So I took a picture of my new favorite alongside my old favorite. I'm almost out, and I don't think I can get them anymore now that the holidays are over, so I'll have to go back to my french vanilla.

And on to today's...

Jan. 13
As I said...this makes me smile! I have a very small laundry area at the end of my kitchen. It doesn't leave a lot of room for sorting laundry. I hung up these two mesh bags a few months ago and they are working out great. They take up very little room (even when full) and aren't in the way. I have one for towels, washcloths, etc. as well as socks and undies (I wash all those in hot water, so they just all go together.) And the other one for all other clothes. It's not the most perfect system, but works great for a small space. And seeing them empty like this, knowing there are no dirty clothes anywhere else, even if only for an hour, makes me very happy!

And so concludes a couple of boring days. I hope I haven't bored anyone reading...if anyone is still reading!

Of course, as soon as I say something about my blogging streak, I break it. Figures.
So I missed a day. Oh well, it was bound to happen sooner or later!

Today we reached a bit of a milestone.
First of all, the fact that I got up and made it to church with just me and the kids was pretty amazing. I hate to admit that our Sunday attendance to church has been sporadic this past year. It just seemed that there was always an excuse not to go. And going to church on a Sunday became occasional instead of the norm. And if Chip was working...forget about it. It was just "too much trouble" for me to go with just the kids and no help from him! I'm not proud of it, but that's the way it's been.

Last Sunday we made it...the first Sunday of a new year...a good start. I really wanted a new normal, which includes getting back regularly to church, even if it's not easy or convenient. To be completely honest though, if it had still been pouring down rain this morning, I probably would have rolled over and gone right back to sleep. But it wasn't. And I still stayed in bed much later than I'd late that I really considered staying there. But I made myself get up, and I'm glad I did.

Now, back to the milestone. For four years, on the Sundays we have been in church, Ruthi has stayed in the service with us. I never had a desire to put her in the nursery...there were several reasons, a big one being I didn't want to have to serve time in there! I love working in children's ministry, but I'm so over the nursery days...did NOT want to do it. And I just couldn't in good conscience put her in there and then conveniently not be available when it was my time to serve. So I didn't put her in there at all.

In August, she was old enough (that's when the age changeover is - when school starts back) to go to the preschool class. But I was having a difficult enough time getting her to go to Rainbows on Wednesday nights. She stayed in the beginning because I was in there teaching. So when August came, she finally would go to class without me...with teachers she knew and was comfortable with now. The thought of trying to adjust her on Sunday mornings too was just too much for me. And she didn't want anything to do with it. But I've been thinking recently that it might be a good time to try again.

Last Sunday, as we sat in church, she was getting restless. So I decided to bring it up again. I waited until yesterday, and started telling her how much fun she would have, and that she wouldn't have to sit still and be quiet for so long if she'd go to class. I let her know that her friends would be there and that I knew she'd love it. So she looks at me and says, "I think I want to check it out."

This morning as we were getting ready, she made sure I knew that she still wanted to "check it out." So I talked to her a little more and made sure she realized that the teachers wouldn't be the same, but everything else would be familiar. She was ready.

So I took her over, and after just a few seconds of encouragement, she went into the play room. (This is where they go until all teachers are ready to take them.) She wanted to make sure I wasn't going anywhere yet, so I told her I'd be around for a few minutes. Then I found out who her teacher was and was able to introduce her and make a connection (I taught her little girl years ago when she was 3). Ruthi thought that was cool, and seemed immediately comfortable with her. I was so thankful! So I gave her a hug and kiss and told her I'd be back.

When I went back to get her, she was so excited. I put her coat on and started out the door, and she announced, "I don't want to go!" I think she liked it just a little bit! She's already excited about going back to class next Sunday.

I couldn't be happier. And now that she knows that she can go there, she's going to give me a really hard time if I'm tempted to stay home! That's a good thing!

Now if I'd taken a picture of her going there this morning, it would have been the perfect photo for today. But I didn't. Oh well.

I'm still waiting for my kit - I sure hope it comes tomorrow, but I'm still getting my pictures made every day. Some days are easier than others, but I'm having fun. So now I have yesterday and today's pictures.

Jan. 10
Ruthi really loves her stuffed animals. She calls them her friends. And at least half of them are in her bed. She's not happy unless they are lined up in her bed. As you can see, the bed is getting quite crowded! There's barely room in there for her. Which I suppose is not such a big deal, since she won't sleep in there half the time anyway! But I am hoping to get that to change soon! She's never been a great sleeper, and sleeps much better ON me! But since she's turned 4, she's actually been sleeping better, so I'm hoping the next step is to get her to stay in her bed all night! Anyway, I thought her "friends" looked cute all lined up, and wanted to capture it before she outgrows it!

Jan. 11
This is Denise with Ruthi. Denise lives next door and Ruthi LOVES her! (And Denise loves Ruthi too!) Tonight the kids and I went over there for dinner (which was delicious, by the way). I had not taken a picture yet today, so this was perfect. Ruthi with her "other mom". Actually, both of the kids play around and call her mom. It's going to be a sad day when they have to move. Jorge (her husband) is in the Army, and it's likely they will have to move at some point...hopefully later than sooner. I don't think either of my kids are going to know what to do without them next door! But hopefully we won't have to worry about that for quite a while. But for now Ruthi gets plenty of hugs from mom #2!

I was so sure my Project 365 kit was going to arrive today. Every time I heard what I thought was the UPS truck, I was peeking to see. We sat down for dinner, and I heard a noise. I saw the truck pull up in front of the house. I threw my hands into the air and shouted, "YES!" I was so excited.

Chip had gotten up to do something, so he went to the door. I was cheering and clapping until I saw the box in his hand. I realized that box was NOT big enough to be holding my kit. I was so disappointed!

The package was for him. How dare he have a package delivered at the same time I'm expecting something! LOL! When CJ asked him what was in the box, he said, "My 365." What a funny guy.

I was able to get a decent amount of sleep last night. I needed it. I feel much better today. I've had a little bit of a headache, but not bad enough to have to take anything for it. So that's good.

I got up early this morning and got the groceries put away, and the main areas cleaned back up. Thankfully Chip didn't come to a totally "exploded" house this morning!

I've been busy making cards today. I have several January birthday cards that I needed, and I'm making extras to put in my Etsy shop. It's been empty for far too long, so that is a priority now...getting some stuff in there again! I have a few more to make and then I'll get the pictures made and everything listed. It's time to get this thing going again...and better this time, I hope! Once I get pictures taken, I'll post some on my craft's been FOREVER since I posted there! Sigh.

Now for today's picture. Ruthi loves to help. She is always a willing helper with just about anything you can think of. One of her favorite jobs is filling Chip's vitamin container. He wrote the number of each one on the lid, so she looks at it and knows how many of each to add. She counts them out and fills it up. She loves to do this. When he handed it to her this morning, she couldn't wait. In fact, she was getting a little aggravated at me when I didn't jump up immediately to go get the vitamins! I didn't make her wait too long. It's amazing the little things that make this girl happy!
So today's picture is her filling up the vitamin container.

Wow! Look at Me Go!

Can you believe it? It's the 8th of January, and this is my 8th post this year! 1 a day! Maybe I'm on my way to a new record! I suppose after taking such a long break, I have a lot of "making up" to do!

Today I went to have lunch with my cousin Cathy. After far too long of us not getting together, we've decided to get together every other week. And to make sure we don't put it off, we set the next date on the calendar before we part ways. It's working well, and we are getting to spend some much needed girl time to talk about whatever is going on at the time. I need it as much as she does. (For those of you reading who don't know the whole story, her husband went home to Jesus back in the summer, and of course, it's been very hard on her and the boys. So I really want to spend as much time with her as I can.)

Steven was home today and took a picture of us. (I thought I was going to just have to hold the camera out in front of me to take it...Steven made it much easier!) So here's my photo for today.

Jan. 8:

We took a silly one too, but I'm not brave enough to post it on here!

It's not even 11:00, and I'm heading to bed. I must be getting old! LOL!
Actually, I've been spending far too many nights staying up until 2 or later, and having a difficult time functioning during the day. I'm really trying to get into a better routine, and get more sleep which will hopefully help me be more productive. And time management...I'm working on that. But it's a hard one for me!

Today was kind of long...I didn't get up as early as I'd planned, so my plans got a little out of whack. After lunch with Cathy, the kids and I took a much needed trip to the chiropractor. Then I went to get groceries. I had planned to do these things BEFORE lunch! But instead, I was getting home around 6:30 this evening. Not what I really wanted to do. Because of my not getting up this morning, and everything getting shifted, not much of what I needed to do around here got done.

So the house is a mess, and I'm just feeling to tired to do anything about it. My groceries are still sitting in the floor waiting to be put away - and that's not how I like it. I usually put them away immediately! But I just haven't had the energy to do so. (I did put the cold stuff away though.)

So why am I blogging? Because I'm on a roll, and I didn't want to mess it up yet! But I'm going to bed...hopefully I'll actually be able to sleep! And I plan to get up early in the morning and make some progress so Chip doesn't come home from work in the morning and wonder why the house looks like it exploded!

Oh, and I really hope I'm not getting sick. My throat has felt a little sore today, and now I'm sneezing. Maybe that's why I don't have much energy. OK...I'm going to bed and let this old body rest!

Today's photo is of Ruthi in her Rainbows vest, ready to go to church. Our church has a girls program called Missionettes. Actually, the new name is MPact. But it will always be Missionettes to me, because I grew up in the program myself.

The 3 and 4 year old girls and boys group is called Rainbows. Ruthi started going last summer, and she absolutely loves it. She looks forward to Wednesday every week.

Due to all the Christmas programs, and the fact that Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve were on Wednesday, we haven't had Rainbows in a while. As a matter of fact, the last time we met was December 3rd. Over a month ago!

To say Ruthi was excited about going back to Rainbows tonight is an understatement. She could hardly wait to get there! So this was the perfect picture to choose for today.

She loved getting to see all her friends again, and had a wonderful time. Even though she had a little meltdown at the end of the night. At least that didn't happen until she was in the room with me! That's what happens though when she doesn't get a good nap. And today, she had a very difficult time going to sleep...I think it may have been the anticipation of Rainbows! But all was well.

I'm glad everything went smoothly tonight. I'm the coordinator over the program, and I run all night long. At least I got some exercise in tonight! Now if I could just keep it up! But things went very smoothly tonight, and I am very thankful. I have the most awesome team of teachers who I'm incredibly thankful for. They are the BEST!

Now I'm tired. It's been a long day, and I have another long one coming up tomorrow. And I'm trying my best to be in bed by midnight these days. So far, I'm not doing so well. But I'm going to keep trying! I have 8 minutes to go...think I'll make it?

Probably not.

Busy day...lots accomplished. Tired. Going to bed.

But not before I post today's picture.

Jan. 6:

This was dinner tonight. And it was yummy. And easy.
It's Pizza Spaghetti Casserole. I got it from Barb's blog, A Chelsea Morning. If you'd like the recipe, you can find it here.
We all enjoyed it. But next time I'm going to use Italian sausage...that would make my husband like it more!

Wow, a short and sweet post. Can you believe it?

Don't get used to it!

My Christmas Present Came!

I asked for one "big" thing for Christmas. In November, we got new carpet in the bedrooms. So, I wanted a new vaccuum cleaner. A good one. Not an expensive one, but a good one still.

My friend (and next door neighbor), Denise, has a great vaccuum cleaner. I had borrowed it back in the summer and was amazed at the stuff it was sucking up! I couldn't believe it. So it went on my list.

I had a little vaccuum cleaner which works fine on my hardwoods, and on the old worn out carpet, I figured it was doing a well enough job. But then I had a taste of a good vaccuum. And I was hooked! I borrowed Denise's vaccuum MANY times over the past few months - just to get a little deeper cleaning done.

Actually, it seems it was living over here more than at her house, and she would have to borrow it from me!

With the new carpet in, I wanted to be sure to be able to maintain it better with a good vaccuum cleaner. So right before Christmas, Chip went to get it for me.

Out of stock. Figures.

But he ordered it for me and let me know it was on the way. And today it came!!! I've already broken it in, and I've never been more excited about vaccumming!

So, a picture of my new toy is my picture for today for the 365 project. However, I just realized that I'm going to have to take another one, because all the pictures fit in the book horizontally. But I'm going to put the one I already took and uploaded here for now.

Jan. 5

Oh, and I know I'm going backwards, but I have yesterday's picture too.

Jan. 4:
Ruthi and Emma have been begging for a sleepover. It's been quite a while since the last one. So we decided to squeeze one in before school started back from the Christmas break. So Emma came home with us after church today. I needed to run to Kroger to pick up a few things, and the girls wanted to ride in the "car buggy". They were a little cramped, but they had fun. The sun was in their eyes, so they are a little squinty!

The buzz around the blogosphere right now is "One Little Word". Everyone is choosing their one word to represent them for 2009.

I believe Ali Edwards was the one who got this going in the world of scrapbookers a couple of years ago.
I've given it some thought the past couple of years, but never truly settled on a word. This year, I'm "playing along".

I actually didn't even have to put much thought into my word. It's one I really need to figure out, so it's quite important. Hopefully this year I can focus on it and learn how to...BALANCE!

I have a lot going on. Some days, if you peeked into my life, it wouldn't seem that way at all. Most likely though, those are the days I feel overwhelmed and just need to do nothing to clear my head. Or I do nothing because I don't know where to start!

Like all moms & wives, I have to wear a lot of hats. Add in homeschooling, working in children's ministry and attempting to actually be serious about running a business...there are a lot of things filling my plate! And there are certain seasons where my plate is overflowing!

I have MANY things I NEED to do! I have many MORE things I really WANT to do! And I often feel like I don't have enough time to do it all. Our pastor said this morning, "We all get 24 hours...some of us just have more to do in those 24 hours than others." And he's right. I have just as much time as the next person...that super mom that manages to do it all, and do it well!

But I often have trouble prioritizing things. And when my plate starts to tip from being so full, I truly get overwhelmed and then pretty much just spill the plate. And I'm left with a big mess.

I want to learn how to balance my plate. There may be things I need to let go. There may be some things I need to do differently. I need to get a little perspective and do some prioritizing. Those words would work for me too. But I think BALANCE is what I need to work on the most. And that's what I'm going to try to do!

It's a Date!

I've had the blahs for a couple of days. Today I decided that I needed to get out for just a little bit without my side-kick...just for some fresh air, a bit of quiet time and maybe a little retail therapy!

Chip and CJ had gone on a bike ride this morning, and I was getting ready to go when they got home. Chip asked if I just wanted to be alone or if I would enjoy some company. Adult company was just fine, so we decided on an impromptu date!

Now, he really hates going to Wal-Mart, and that's one of the places I wanted to go. And Michaels. And guess what? He was willing to go to both! He wanted to go to Kohls as well, so off we went. We did a little shopping and had a yummy meal at Chili's.

When we were in Michaels, we were being silly. The cashier got a total kick out of us. She was a little shocked to find that we've been married for over 16 years! She actually said we were adorable! Isn't that funny? Just because we were having a good time together and having fun!

I think I needed that little break today, and the company of my husband was a bonus! I love spending time with him! And it's even better when we can have an uninterrupted conversation!

In other news...I received an email from Creating Keepsakes, and it looks like I did indeed get a order went through. I'm so excited! That will make this project so much easier to do, and make me want to stick with it that much more!

So, I have the pictures from yesterday and today. Remember, I'm including at least a little of the journaling that will go with them here, so I have everything in one place.

Jan. 2
CJ got a laptop for default. Chip ended up having to get a new one right before Christmas because his was acting up, and he was in the middle of a class and needed to have one that was working properly. He actually thought his was history. But he was able to fix it and get it working again, so it became CJ's. I still find it a little weird to look over and see him "working" on his laptop!

Jan 3
I have a teensy obsession with ribbon. I love using it in my scrapbooks, on my cards and many other projects. This is some of my ribbon. I actually have much more than is on this wall. I bought 22 rolls today! But I rarely pay more than a dollar for a roll - I always wait for sales, and hit the dollar bin! Many of the ones I bought today were only 50 cents!

I'm still working on going through and editing the ton of photos from the holidays...I'll be posting some soon!

I don't make resolutions. Why set myself up for failure?
I do however, make goals. Things I'd like to work on. Those will remain on my sheet of paper I wrote them on and hopefully I'll accomplish most of them. But put it out for the world to know? I don't think so!

I think I may have posted some last year...but I'm not going to this time. They are for my benefit, and that's good enough for me!

However, I will share one...but it's not new. I really have a goal to blog regularly! Without long gaps of time where nothing is getting posted. Really, it is good for me, because if I'm putting it here, it won't get lost. This was supposed to be a journal of sorts for me, so I can keep up with things and remember what happened when. Oh, and to let friends and family be able to keep up with what's going on.

But I didn't do so well this past year. goal is to do better this year! We'll see!

Hopefully you will see more pictures, due to the project I'm now working on. (Which means, hopefully, I'll be taking more pictures!)

So I still have no clue if I'm getting the kit I ordered (mentioned in my last post), but it doesn't really matter...I love the idea of this project and I'm going to keep on trucking.

I began this on the 28th so that the weeks in my book will fall Sunday-Saturday. The pictures I'll be including often won't be all that exciting. The idea is to capture everyday life and whatever that may include.

As I said, I will attempt to keep track of it will give me something to post, and will serve as a place I can keep everything together until it's added to my book.

So here are the pictures I've taken from the 28th to yesterday, with a little bit of explanation.

Dec. 28:
I was taking down the Christmas decorations. I had some newspaper on the couch to wrap all my snowmen figurines in. I looked over and Ruthi was sitting on the lid of my box "reading" the newspaper and the ads. I thought it was funny, so I grabbed the camera. Funny girl!

Dec. 29:
Today is the last day I'll have a 3 year old. It is very bitter-sweet. I will miss having a 3 year old, but am looking forward to seeing what joy our 4 year old will bring to our lives! This is the very last picture taken of our precious 3 year old, at the end of her last day of being 3!

Dec. 30:
Ruthi has been asking to get her ears pierced for about 6 months. I told her that if she still wanted to do it on her birthday, that would be the day. She was excited. Until this very moment...then she wasn't so sure. Yes, sadly, she cried. And it broke my heart (and her Daddy's too!). But she only cried for a minute and she's happy now!

Dec. 31:
What a fun and LOUD evening! We had a BIG celebration, as we celebrated Ruthi's birthday along with New Year's Eve. Nana, Poppy, Uncle Chris, and the Vega's joined us for the festivities. We had a great little birthday party and moved right into the New Year celebrations. I took this photo right after midnight - CJ, Ruthi, Jorge and Marlon ringing in the new year...quite loudly!

Jan. 1:
Happy New Year! We enjoyed a traditional meal of collard greens, black-eyed peas and cornbread. All lovingly cooked by the man of the house. And it was DELICIOUS! The Vega's joined us for dinner - they had never experienced this food tradition, and weren't fully sure what to expect. They ate it - that's a good sign! I think they liked it! Though I'm still in a little bit of shock that Jorge ate something green!

That brings me to today. I haven't taken today's picture yet.
Now I'm going to try to work on getting some holiday pictures ready for posting!

Happy New Year!

Yep, I'm still here! I know I've been non-existent in blog land, but that's just the way life's been lately! And I know I'm WAY behind on what's going on around here. At least a few friends and family have been keeping up somewhat through Facebook!

I feel like I've been two-timing my ol' blog by spending so much time on Facebook, but it's just so easy there! Quick updates that only take a minute; posting pictures quickly and easily. I love it!

But I'm going to attempt to get back to blogging too, and I figured the start of a new year was the perfect time to try to get back on track!

Plus, I'm starting a new project. It's called Project 365. It's actually a Becky Higgins kit through Creating Keepsakes that I'll be using. (If I actually managed to get one ordered today - there were issues with the high demand of the kit, and I'm not 100% sure my order actually went through!) Even if I don't get the kit, I'll be continuing with the project.

It's basically capturing a snippet of your everyday life by taking a picture or saving some sort of memorabilia every day for 2009. And if I actually get the kit, it's a brilliant and simple way to keep up with it all and have it in one book!

So, I've already begun with the pictures (I actually began on Sunday, so my week starts on Sunday instead of Thursday!), and I'm going to attempt to blog about it as well. I'll try to post the pictures that will be included - probably not every day, but at least collect them on here weekly, along with a little journaling that I will include. That way if I get behind in printing the pictures and journaling in the book, I'll have it here to to refer to when putting it in the actual book.

Did that make ANY sense?

Oh well, if not, just stay tuned and maybe it'll be clearer as the days go on.

But for now, I'm going to run. Don't want to make my first post of 2009 a novel! I keep telling myself that if I can make shorter posts, that I'll actually blog more. But you all know that I blog like I talk...and I can go on and on and on!

Anyway...Happy New Year, and I hope you are all richly blessed this year!
